Here’s a little history…

Hi Everyone!

Thank You for reading my Blog.

I thought I’d start out by telling you a little about myself (well maybe a lot) and how this group was started. I really will try to not make this too long but I think its important that you know about The Personal Development Network and me.

First I’ll tell you how I got my name MrSelfImprovement. I have been called a many things in my lifetime and have had a few nicknames, but obtaining the name MrSelfImprovement, was actually something that came up during a coaching sessions I engaged in. In the past, I have been known as the “Ambassador of Fun”, which was given to me while presenting on a cruise for Royal Caribbean. This name actually stuck for a while, and although it captured my lifestyle, I was never really that crazy about it, as it did not define what I do. The moment my coach said to me, “Well, you’re just MrSelfImprovement”, I said, “Yes I Am”! I immediately checked to see if that web domain name was available, and what do you know, it was. As they say, “The rest is history”, MrSelfImprovement was born.

I would like to start by telling you about my parents and childhood. In doing so, I think you will learn more about how I operate and conduct myself in business and in life.

As a child, I had a different kind of upbringing. My parents were (for lack of better terms) hippies and I was raised in a very spiritual way. My Mother has always had this cosmic power over me. She could read my thoughts and knew where I was at all times. It was always surprising how she showed up when I was in trouble. I learned to meditate when I was 10, nd at that time, I thought it was a little weird. While other kids were out playing in streams and catching frogs I was learning to meditate, listening to my Mother try to explain how the universe worked and being taught how to use my mind over matter. If I were to fall and get hurt instead of my Mother running to help she’d look at me (to make sure was really OK) and tell me “don’t worry, think of something else”.

My Father is an amazing Man. Throughout my childhood and to this day, he has worked very hard in the sales profession. In fact he is 81, and still working. I can remember him working as an Insurance Salesman during the day and at night he went door-to-door selling vacuum cleaners. You know the kind that would walk into your house with a suitcase full of dirt and throw it on your floor just to show you how good the vacuum would work. When I was six years old, he started selling cars. Actually Used Cars and that is where the journey began. Now I know your thinking, a Used Car Salesman? Well I will start by saying that as in any profession, there are honest and dishonest people and without a doubt my Father is the most honest person I have ever met. As I said, he is 81 and still works full time. The car business has a high turnover and my Father has only worked in two different places and has been at his current job since 1984.

As I entered my Teen years, I was still meditating (and not knowing why) everyday. I worked as much as I could and went to college. When I turned twenty, I started a sales career. When I started my career in sales, my Father gave me one bit of advice that is very simple and has stuck with me until this very day. He said, “If you never do anything wrong, you’ll never have anything to worry about”. Simple but true…

I carried his words with me. Growing up in a sales oriented family I actually didn’t like it. I was not comfortable with, and could never be pushy or forward with people. At that time, it seemed to be the way everyone was trained in the industry. I worked in a high volume high-pressure sales atmosphere for two years and I was an average salesperson. The one thing I did well was closing the sale and mainting relationships with clients, and following up. One of the top managers noticed my low key approach that delivered top results and he took me under his wing. He taught me that I needed to separate myself from the 67 other salesmen. After following his advice for about six months, I was promoted to my first Management position and again and as they say, “The rest is history”. I have sat at the helm of million dollar businesses and turned around under-performing companies. I have Consulted, Coached and Trained Manager’s and their teams. I have coached individuals and completely turned their lives and careers around.

I guess you’re probably wondering where does this MrSelfImprovement fit in? Well, I’m glad you asked… The way I have always trained and coached was by first teaching my Students/Clients to first get in touch with what their goals are and how they plan on achieving them. After discovering their wants and needs, I develop a plan for them to obtain they’re goal. You see, I can teach anyone how to sell, but what usually stops most people, is that what they are doing may not be in-line with their belief system. My approach to coaching has always been to work on the person as an individual first and then to work on their actual process. When your mind is aligned with your actions, everything else will fall in-line if you follow my proven process.

Ok so what does this have to do with Me and what if I don’t want to learn sales?

Well, two very good questions and here are my answers…Everything in life revolves around Sales or at least some form of sales.

Think about it…

Say you want to meet that special someone or see someone you would like to form a relationship with. When you approach them you are selling yourself. You approach that person and the way you stand, the way you talk are acts of selling. Let me give you another example. You go on a job interview, you want to impress your potential boss…you go into your sales mode again.

I could go on and on about this but I think you get the point. What I do is coach businesses and individuals according to their specific needs by using a proven process that achieves results fast.

I bet before reading my story you never thought that what I am offering you would be considered sales oriented topics buts it’s all in how you view and perceive them.
